Eva Contis is a New Orleans based director. After getting a degree in Latin American Studies from UCSC, Eva taught first and second grade in South Los Angeles before becoming an editor. She edited narrative features, television, and documentaries before she dove into directing. The animated short she edited, The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore took home an Oscar in 2012. Her directorial debut,The Stand, won “Top 5” at the Louisiana Film Prize, as well as a “Founder’s Circle Grant”. It screened at numerous film festivals, was Oscar qualified and landed distribution with Shorts International. It was also featured in a four-page spread in American Cinematographer Magazine. Her second short, Breasts, was a part of the Panavision New Filmmaker Program and she and her team raised over $22,000 through Seed and Spark and private donations. It had its world premiere at the New Orleans Film Festival before heading to the Austin Film Festival and worldwide festival screenings, garnering awards for best story, best dramatic short and a best social impact award.
